Operations and Maintenance
Scope
Day-to-day production operations, asset maintenance, permit-to-work, real-time supervision, and the deviation/intervention discipline at the sharp end. The function that executes against the standards Engineering sets and the procedures the management system mandates.
The reframing
"'Ops = the people who run it' is the easy framing — but Operations and Maintenance own significant content in every element from leadership commitment through to assurance. The deeper test: when a barrier degrades, does Ops have the authority and the procedure to act? If yes, the framework is working. If not, the framework has been written for somebody else's audit."
