Wells
Scope
Well design, drilling, completions, workovers, well intervention, well integrity through life, and well examination. The function that owns the well from concept through to abandonment — including its integrity as a barrier between the reservoir and the surface.
The reframing
"Wells is one of the few functions that is hard to misframe — drilling a well is unambiguously technical, risky and consequential. The harder question is whether the framework around the wells is doing what it claims. Well examination (Element 10) is independent assurance, not just an audit. Well integrity (Element 6) is barrier management, not just inspection. If those distinctions are blurred, regulators notice."
